  • LED lamps don’t burn out. The average life is extremely long. You will probably never see an LED lamp burn out for as long as you own your Caribbean Sun. Fluorescent lamps do burn out and have to be replaced. LED’s are also much smaller than fluorescent and we can design a small lights that gives as much light as a very large fluorescent light.

  • Yes. If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with your light, you may return it for a full refund. You must return it within 30 days of purchase. The Caribbean Sun RB lights can be returned within 90 days. For the RB only, there is a full refund in the first 30 days and a 15% restocking charge for lights returned between 31 and 90 days. You must contact us first for a return authorization and shipping instructions.

  • By using the light for 10 minutes a day, you will start to see results in a few weeks. While, the bacteria are killed fairly quickly, it takes time for the skin to clear and heal.

  • Studies have shown that a specific wavelength blue light between 400 and 420 nm kills the skin bacteria that causes acne. At the same time, the red light (660 nm) promotes skin healing. Together, these two wavelengths have been shown to have a success rate of over 75%.

  • For relief from SAD, you can expect to feel results when using the box between 20 minutes and one hour per day. Times will vary from person to person. When using the Caribbean Sun RB for acne treatment, using the box 10 minutes per day should yield excellent results.

Please consult with your doctor before beginning treatment to see if light therapy is recommended for your medical condition.

  • Light therapy treatment works by using either a powerful light (at least 2500 LUX) or by using a blue specific light with a wavelength between 400 – 420 nm. The Caribbean Sun light emits 10,000 LUX of white light while the Caribbean Sun Blue light emits a blue light at 415 nm.

  • The standard Caribbean Sun light is a full spectrum light, however, research has shown that full spectrum lighting has no effect on SAD. Results come from using a powerful light (at least 2500 LUX) or by using a blue specific light with a wavelength between 400 – 420 nm. The Caribbean Sun light emits 10,000 LUX of light while the Caribbean Sun Blue light emits blue light at 415 nm.

  • The Caribbean Sun is rated 10,000 LUX at 16″. Please note: While all of the research shows that you should use a light that emits 10,000 LUX at its source, you should never sit close enough to any light to receive 10,000 LUX. That would be far too powerful and could be dangerous. You should sit between 2 and 5 feet from the light source. Place it off to the side and do not look directly in to the light. This advise applies to all types of SAD lights.

Please consult with your doctor before beginning treatment to see if light therapy is recommended for your medical condition.

  • Yes, light therapy treatment has been shown to be very safe yet very effective. All of the Caribbean Sun’s come equipped with UV shields. The Caribbean Sun RB comes with protective eye wear because, in order to be effective against acne, the recommended range is short and one should sit very close (within 12 inches). The standard Caribbean Sun treats SAD with a very powerful 10,000 LUX light and could result in headaches. The recommended distance for this box is 2 to 5 feet and one should never look directly at the light.

  • SAD, otherwise know as winter blues, is the result of too little serotonin in the brain. This decrease in serotonin can cause depression, sleep disorders and loss of appetite. It has been found that when subjected to either a very bright light source of at least 10,000 LUX or a blue light of 415 nm, the serotonin in the brain is elevated. This actual chemical change in the body results in a mood elevation and a general feeling of well being.

Please consult with your doctor before beginning treatment to see if light therapy is recommended for your medical condition.

  • SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) is a type of winter depression which affects millions of people every winter between September and April, in particular during December, January and February. SAD is caused by a biochemical imbalance in the hypothalamus due to the shortening of daylight hours and the lack of sunlight in winter. For many people SAD is a seriously disabling illness, preventing them from functioning normally without continuous medical treatment. For others, it is a milder condition, causing discomfort, referred to as sub-syndromal SAD or winter blues.
